20 Weeks, 2 Days - Level 2 Ultrasound Complete

Last Wednesday, Tate and I went to the Perinatal clinic in the Cities to check out our little peanut and to get all of the baby's measurements. I am extremely happy to report that our baby is measuring out perfectly and all of her/his little fingers and toes are accounted for. :) We decided to not find out the sex of the baby at the appointment. Instead, we had our doctor write the sex of the baby down on a card and she sealed it shut. We were planning on opening the card on Christmas morning but we started to have second thoughts and at this time, we have decided to wait. I am not sure if Mommy here will be able to last for 5 more months not knowing if we are having a boy or a girl so I may have some serious negotiating to do with daddy. But, the most important thing is to know our baby is healthy and growing perfectly. The baby already weighs over 12 oz and is measuring a day a head of schedule. :) I feel the baby move all the time now so hopefully Daddy will get a chance to feel the baby kick soon as well.

The only issues I have been having is the return of my dreaded acid reflux. The past few days (starting Christmas Eve) I have been getting sick and not able to keep my food down. So, I am having to be pretty darn strict on my diet and keeping a bottle of Tums close to me at all times. It's a small price to pay for being able to carry such a precious little peanut with me. Only 5 more months to go! :)

Ava knows exactly where the baby is at now and kisses my tummy goodnight. She is the sweetest little girl in the world. She also kisses Elmo in her book after we are done reading it and it's time for bed. :) I love watching her play with her dolls and taking care of them. She changes their poopy diapers, gives them bottles and even puts them in time-outs when they are naughty. :) She is going to be the BEST big sister ever and I feel so very blessed!

It's Official, the Baby is Moving

One of the best experiences in the world is to feel your little baby kick for the first time. I first felt the baby moving around a week and a half ago, it was until this past weekend when I felt the baby kick by placing my hand on my tummy. It's amazing to think that at 18 weeks, our little peanut is developing faster than ever.

We have our level 2 ultrasound next week and Tate and I are still debating if we should find out the sex of the baby. I really want to find out so I can plan and get things ready if we are having a boy and Tate really wants to wait and have it be a surprise. I guess we will have to wait until the day of to decide for sure. I am secretly hoping I will be able to tell on my own during the ultrasound. :) Either way, I am so absolutely overjoyed to have another child. I keep imagining what is going to be like with two children and I am very glad Tate will be off for the summer shortly after the baby is born.

Ava still thinks she has a baby in her tummy too. :) She likes to show us her tummy and tell us there is a baby in there. She is going to be the best big sis ever, you should see how she takes care of her baby dolls. She is already changing their dirty diapers (wet wipes and all) and putting them to bed. Ahhh, the joys of being a mother! :)

17 Weeks Today!!

Today marks my 17th week and things have been going really well for me and baby. The baby is approximately 5 inches long from head to rump and it just amazes me how quickly this pregnancy is going by. Having my beautiful 2 year old to chase around keeps me occupied. Ava has her Christmas dance recital tomorrow night and she will be performing in front of an older group. We are crossing our fingers that she will actually want to dance instead of just looking at all of the new faces in the room. :) Ava is starting to become very aware about a new baby coming soon. She told our daycare that she was having a brother and a sister and that they were in her tummy! LOL! She told our daycare before we were even able to tell her about the baby on the way. It's pretty amazing to know our little girl realizes a little brother or sister will be here in May. We are all very excited!

12 Weeks 4 Days Prego - Perinatol Visit

Yesterday Tate and I had our 1st appointment at the Perinatol center to get a detailed ultrasound and do some blood work. Our little baby was so active yesterday in the beginning of the appointment. The little peanut would not sit still and it looked as if he/she had hiccups because he/she kept bouncing all around. The ultrasound specialist said that babies do a lot of that at this stage. It was funny because when we finally were ready to start measuring, our little peanut tuckered him/herself out and seemed to be sleeping. The US tried to wake the baby up by pushing on my tummy but no such luck. I actually had to get out off the bed and do toe touches for about 5 mins to try and help get the baby moving again. :) The toe touches worked and the baby moved around enough for us to get the information we needed. We have lots of new pictures of our baby and so far, everything looks great! :) We are so happy and already so in love with this baby. Ava can't wait for the arrival of her new brother/sister.
